Ali Rameez’s two shops vandalized

Apparently some people aren’t fans of Ali Rameez’s music. Two shops owned by the former singer who had reached superstar status in Maldives with his singing before calling it a day and retiring to a life of piety and entrepreneurship, were vandalized on Monday night.

The former singing sensation told Haveeru on Tuesday that the windows of his two shops, Freeze Brand and Freeze Veg, had been smashed sometime during the night. The two shops are situated next to each other.

“The windows were smashed by a thrown pavement stone,” he said. “The windows were almost completely destroyed. One of the pavement stones was found inside the store.”

He also said that he did not think robbery was the motive behind the attack but admitted that he had no idea who had done it or why.

“Robbing the place was clearly not what was on the mind of whoever who did it,” Ali Rameez, who now worked for a society dedicated to spreading religious awareness, said. He also said that it would probably take around Rf2,500 to replace the broken windows.

A Media Official from the Maldives Police Service said that they were investigating the incident but that no arrests had been made yet.

The Dangers of Having Female Teachers for Boys in Elementary Schools

have come across what the newspaper al-Madinah printed in Issue#3898, dated 2-30-1397 A.H., written by one calling herself Nura bint Abdullah, under the title, "Face to Face.” In sum, Nura is saying that she had a meeting with a number of women, including the female Dean of the College of Education in Jeddah, whose name is Faiza. Nura mentions Faiza's surprise that there are no female teachers teaching boys in the elementary level, even to the fifth grade.Nura supported Faiza's views in that article for a number of reasons. Personally, with thanks to Faiza, Nura and their colleagues for the concern about the teaching of our young boys and for their welfare, I find it an obligation upon myself to point out that their suggestion is filled with evil and harmful consequences..........Learn more

Women appearing in front of men

Many men in some families allow their wives, daughters and sisters to appear in front of men who are not their mahrams, such as their friends and colleagues, and let them sit with them and talk to them as if they were their mahrams. If we advise them they say that this is their custom and the custom of their forefathers, and they claim that their hearts are clean. Some of them are proud and arrogant although they understand the ruling, and others are ignorant of the ruling. What is your advice to them?.

Praise be to Allaah. What every Muslim must do is not to rely on customs; rather he should refer the matter to the pure sharee’ah. Whatever Islam approves of is permissible and whatever it does not approve........Learn more
